The case of Nazareno Solís: a curious record at Boca about to come to an end
After nearly a decade under contract, Nazareno Solís will officially leave Boca Juniors on December 31. It will be the end of an unusual story in Argentine soccer: he spent ten years with the club, playing just four games in the blue and gold jersey and spending eight consecutive seasons on loan at various clubs in Argentina and abroad. At 31, the winger finally found continuity and belonging at Deportivo Madryn, where he will continue his career until December 2026. Solís' departure comes as part of Boca's squad overhaul ahead of the 2026 preseason. In this context, there have already been more high-profile departures, such as those of Frank Fabra and Cristian Lema, but the name of the Campana-born footballer appeared almost silently, true to a career that has always been far from the spotlight. Solís had arrived at Boca in August 2016, during Guillermo Barros Schelotto's tenure, from Talleres and with high expectations. He quickly won over the fans when he confessed his love for the club: “I'm fulfilling a dream, it's a unique leap in my career. Very few people get to fulfill their dream of playing for the club they support,” he said at the time. However, that dream was short-lived on the field. He played just four official matches in the Boca shirt, only one as a starter and three coming off the bench. He did not score any goals and provided two assists in the 2016-17 season, which ended with Xeneize winning the championship. His appearances were: 20 minutes in a 4-0 win over Temperley, 2 minutes in a 4-1 win over Colón, another 25 in a 1-0 win over Defensa y Justicia, and 62 in a 1-1 draw with Patronato. From there, he began an extensive loan spell: Huracán, San Martín de San Juan, Aldosivi, OFI Creta in Greece, Alvarado, Patronato, Gimnasia de Mendoza, and Deportivo Madryn. Eight loans that reflect a gamble that never quite paid off at La Ribera. Paradoxically, it was in the south where Solís achieved the stability that had been denied him for years. At Deportivo Madryn, he became a key player in Leandro Gracián's team: he played 37 games, scored five goals, and provided ten assists between the Primera Nacional and the Reducido por el Ascenso. The Aurinegro came very close to promotion to the Primera, with decisive defeats against Gimnasia de Mendoza and Estudiantes de Río Cuarto, but the former Boca player's performance was one of the highlights of the campaign. With that footballing and emotional support, Solís made the decision to end his relationship with Boca definitively and continue at Madryn. "My contract with Boca ends on December 31. It was a very long process while the contract was in force.
