Two dead and four wounded in attack by hitman who emptied a magazine into a group of people
ROSARIO.-According to witnesses, the hitman arrived on foot and began shooting with the gun in his right hand. He stopped when he ran out of bullets in the magazine. A 16-year-old girl died almost instantly. The same happened to a man who has not yet been identified. In addition, four people were seriously injured. The attack took place in the Triángulo neighborhood, in the western part of the city, and the plot behind the trail of blood appears to be related to drug dealing. "The attack took place at 1:20 a.m. at 6300 Cisneros, between Campbell and Pamaló. The place is known as the Toba neighborhood, although it officially has another name. People from that community of indigenous peoples live there, most of whom came from Chaco. The area was shaken by the two crimes, especially that of the 16-year-old teenager named Deisy Jazmín Durán, who died from a gunshot wound to the head. According to sources from the Rosario District Attorney's Office, at around 1:20 a.m., several calls were made to 911 by neighbors who reported hearing gunshots in the neighborhood. According to reports, the shots were aimed at a group of people who were on the street. When the police arrived at the scene, they found four wounded people lying on the sidewalk and two dead." During the early hours of the morning, the emergency room at the hospital became a tense place, with family members arriving to ask about the wounded. Police surveillance of the area was stepped up to prevent incidents after employees experienced frightening scenes in recent weeks following the shooting at the building when Dylan Cantero, a member of Los Monos who is currently detained in Piñero prison, entered the premises. In front of the house at 6300 Cisneros, investigators collected 10 9mm caliber shell casings. The officers detained two people they considered to be acting suspiciously: a 36-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man. Dermotest examinations to check for traces of gunpowder were negative, so they were released. Crimes linked to drug trafficking have been recurring in this area of Rosario for some time. In July of this year, a 30-year-old man was shot to death at 3700 Manantiales. Twelve spent shell casings were left at the crime scene, evidence of a coordinated attack. One of the most serious cases occurred in 2022. In the Fonavi complex in Sanguinetti, two teenagers—Valentín Solís, 14, and Eric Galli, 15—were shot dead by three hitmen with machine guns. The minors had apparently been mistaken for other people. The double homicide that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning highlights a context of increased friction in the drug world. There has been an increase in violence in Rosario, although it has not reached the levels seen in previous years. However, there has been an increase in crime compared to 2024, when homicides fell by 64% compared to 2023. According to official figures, there have been 104 homicides in the Rosario department in the last eleven months. Data from the Santa Fe Public Security Observatory reveal that in November 2024, there were 85 homicides, showing that this year the increase in violent deaths grew by 22.4%. However, this figure is less shocking when compared to 2023, when 260 people were murdered in Rosario. Firearms continue to be the weapon of choice in the vast majority of homicides in Rosario. According to November 2025 data from the Public Safety Observatory, they account for 79.8% of cases (83 victims)." Parallel to the increase in murders, official reports show an increase in the number of people wounded by firearms in Rosario. During 2025, the judicial department that includes this city recorded 363 injuries accumulated up to November, which shows a substantially broader picture of armed violence than that reflected in completed homicides." In November of this year, 41 people were injured by firearms in Rosario, making this month one of the most critical of the year in terms of non-lethal victims of armed violence. This data suggests that, while the number of homicides has increased, overall exposure to gun violence is even more widespread. According to the November 2025 report, 56.7% of homicides in Rosario occur in contexts linked to illegal economies or criminal organizations (59 cases). Interpersonal conflicts account for 25.0% of cases (26 victims), while homicides during robberies represent 3.8%."
