On Thursday, the Libre Caucus submitted a formal inquiry to Minister of the Interior Marco Antonio Oviedo, requesting that he explain to the Legislative Assembly the actions his office has taken in response to the roadblocks—which have been in place for over 40 days and are disrupting free movement as well as the supply of food, fuel, medicine, and oxygen in several regions of the country. “ “As the Libre Caucus, we are submitting an interpellation to Minister of the Interior Marco Antonio Oviedo regarding the roadblocks and his inaction,” stated Representative Rafael López, one of the signatories of the request. If you lack the integrity to admit it, what a shame,” Tuto Quiroga said, addressing President Rodrigo Paz. “The rule of law cannot be sustained on intermittent legality,” he remarked, demanding that the President take responsibility and restore normal traffic flow to the country. The former president maintained that La Paz and El Alto are living under “siege” and “hostage” conditions after six weeks of conflict, with empty markets, long lines for fuel, remote classes, and difficulties accessing medical care.
