Educational quality: Unifranz underpins a model that connects the classroom, the environment, and the world to train global professionals.
Higher education is facing one of the most challenging moments in its history. Technological advances, changes in the world of work, and new social dynamics are forcing us to rethink how we teach and how we learn. Franz Tamayo University (Unifranz) is taking on this challenge with an innovative educational model that seeks to transform lives and propel the country toward international standards of academic excellence. Academic quality is a fundamental pillar and is based on innovation and the connection between professional training and the reality of the social environment, milestones that have been proven and are internationally recognized. For Verónica Ágreda, rector of Unifranz, today's education must break with old barriers. “Education must overcome two very important disconnects: that of the traditional model, between knowledge and personal development, and that which exists between what is studied and the real world,” she says, explaining the fundamentals of the model. She emphasizes that the university has a student-centered system that is supported “by a culture of innovation that permeates all its processes.” In the words of Pedro Sáenz, vice-rector of Unifranz's La Paz campus, the transformative educational model is based on a simple concept: “If we want to get different results, we have to do things differently.” The proposal seeks to enable students to integrate their knowledge in the classroom and apply it to solving real-world problems," he explains. Saenz adds that this is not traditional education based solely on isolated theory within the curriculum, but rather a learning process that connects content and allows it to be used in practical ways to face the challenges of everyday life. This approach is geared toward a clear objective: to offer comprehensive, flexible education aligned with the skills required in the 21st century. Ágreda affirms that the institution is committed to active methodologies, digital ecosystems, and educational spaces that allow “the teaching and learning process to be more enjoyable, profound, and meaningful through digitalization.” The new model—which Unifranz is implementing at its four campuses—is based on six essential pillars: the student as the protagonist, the teacher as an inspiring guide, transdisciplinarity as a bridge between knowledge, applied research, dynamic learning spaces, and university outreach as a link to society. According to Gustavo Montaño, national academic vice-rector, “the student is at the center of the educational process; we are breaking the paradigm that the teacher is the owner of the truth.” The academic points out that the university is working on upskilling and reskilling processes, aimed at ensuring that training is continuous and adaptable. Montaño emphasizes that the role of teachers has also evolved. “Teachers must know how to design learning experiences and adjust them according to the behaviors and motivation levels of students,” he says. Under this logic, teachers act as researchers of their own practice, in a permanent process of innovation and continuous improvement. For Óscar Ágreda, executive president of Unifranz, this change is part of a broader institutional transformation. “We are becoming a much smarter, more efficient, and more innovative institution. All of this will lead us to create much more value for people and thus bring about a transformation aligned with the needs of the modern world.” The executive maintains that the university is moving toward international models of evaluation and certification that validate its quality and impact on society. Transdisciplinarity is another central focus. This approach promotes collaborative teams and comprehensive solutions to real challenges. At the same time, learning spaces are conceived as dynamic ecosystems: classrooms, hallways, transition areas, and laboratories serve as stages for creativity and exploration. “This allows learning to take place anywhere,” says Montaño, highlighting the importance of environments that promote well-being and innovation. The model also incorporates applied research, connecting theory and practice through projects that have an impact on the community. “Research and outreach must be in constant dialogue, because they are not isolated elements,” the vice-chancellor points out. Internationalization is another strategic pillar. Unifranz maintains partnerships with universities and global higher education networks, highlighting its cooperation with Mondragón Unibertsitatea in Spain, which has enabled the co-creation of innovative teaching tools and strengthened student mobility. For the rector, this global agenda responds to the need to train professionals who are competitive in any environment. “We want our graduates to not only be good at solving local problems, but also competitive and collaborative in international environments.” On the verge of presenting its renewed educational model, Unifranz projects itself as an institution that connects the classroom, the environment, and the world. Ее ставка на инновации, сертифицированное качество и гуманистический подход к образованию направлена на то, чтобы ответить на вызовы времени, когда образование стало главным двигателем построения более справедливого, устойчивого и устойчивого общества.
