The General Directorate of Health Surveillance has recorded a 16% increase in the number of cases of respiratory diseases in health centers. In view of this scenario, an epidemiological alert was issued in order to intensify prevention and control actions, according to the health portfolio, most of the cases involve complications such as bronchitis and pneumonia, mainly in infants and older adults. The trend curve above the alert threshold is maintained, suggesting an unusual seasonal pattern to what was observed in seasons prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
