«Данубио» оштрафован за вторжение болельщиков на поле во время матча с «МС Торке»: команда сыграет без зрителей против «Пеньяроля» в рамках Кубка Уругвая
Danubio was sanctioned for its fans’ invasion of the field during the match against Montevideo City Torque. As a result, the Disciplinary Commission ruled that Danubio must play two matches behind closed doors, and the match against Ciudadano was declared over with the score at 2-0, which was the score at the time of the incident. This affects the match in which Leonel Rocco’s team will face Peñarol on Thursday, September 24, behind closed doors. The Commission justifies holding the team responsible due to “the ease with which that club’s fans were able to gain access to the field as a group.” It also states that “the severity of these incidents (the acts of aggression), which involved threatening or violent chants led by a group of the club’s supporters; the situation posing a clear danger to the safety of the players themselves; and, finally, the actual entry onto the field with the intent to attack the aforementioned participants in the sporting event, does not guarantee safety in the immediate future.”
