A 12-year-old girl was arrested for robbing a jewelry store in the Pocitos neighborhood.
Editorial The police arrested a 12-year-old girl on Friday as part of the investigation into the robbery of a jewelry store in the Pocitos neighborhood, located on Avenida Rivera and Brito del Pino, where gold items were stolen. Police conducted several raids in which they recovered almost all of the stolen jewelry and seized the firearm used in the robbery that took place last Wednesday at noon, reported Subrayado (Channel 10) and confirmed to El País by police sources. A man and a woman entered the store posing as customers and inquired about watches and other items. At one point, the man pulled out a firearm and, under threat, forced the employees to move to a room at the back of the store. There, the assailant demanded that one of the workers tie up his colleague and then himself, after which the criminals took several pieces of gold and fled. After the robbery, the perpetrators walked down Rivera Avenue toward Simón Bolívar, an area with numerous shops and security cameras. When they reached the bus stop located at Rivera and Simón Bolívar, they boarded a bus and fled the scene. The man had visited the store in the days prior to the robbery, presumably to observe how the premises operated and plan his escape route.
